The artist statement

We ask all the artists in Gallery 9 to provide us with their artist statement. This short piece of writing defines who they are and why they paint as told in their voice.

I have to say how much I enjoy reading these pieces. The chance to learn the driving force behind a person's creativity is always quite interesting.

When clients come into the gallery and are interested in a piece, we give them a copy of the artist statement. Sometimes this statement creates a bond with the potential collector--all from a short piece of writing.

If you're an artist considering submitting to a gallery, be sure to have an artist statement written. It really completes your submission package.

Thank you Kim for dragging the artist statement out of me the other day. It was interesting to experience the fine line between where "commercial bio" and "artist statement" collide. There IS a difference! Yes!

HEY... I posted a few shots from the other day onto my Flickr account if you want to see... feel free to grab-n-run (if you like any of the shots there and want to post them here.)

I just have a few in the set so far, but I will continue to add to it. :)

Take care
