I've actually had a moment to squeeze some new art into the gallery!
Check out who's currently exhibiting.

And remember, we're always looking for new artists to show. So, if you or someone you know is an established or budding artist, we would love a submission. It's easy! click here.

Gallery Face Lift for the Winter!

Some changes at Gallery 9. Very exciting!

A new gallery artist, and a new display. Kim and I dragged up this black display from the basement and cleaned it up and voila! Perfect for small items. These tiny spun cotton figurines are by Vintage by Crystal, our newest Gallery artist. You can see some of my jewelry just beyond.

Kim is painting the window "Wall". You can barely see her working, I tried to get a Kerry Hawkins type photo, but boy, is that harder than it seems.

Here is Julie reaching the areas of the "Wall" that Kim couldn't reach. I can't wait to see what will eventually be on this vibrant blue wall.

What fun! I can't wait to go in tomorrow to see the whole window finished. It's always something fabulous!!!

Small works

With the holidays around the corner--heck, Saturday is November(!)--I wanted to post some further information for you about our Small Works Show at the Gallery which will be held for the months of November and December.

We at Custom Art Framing and Gallery9 want to give our customers a low-stress option for your holiday shopping. We're happy to bring you the best from our gallery artists in a smaller scale, perfect for gift-giving.

Have you given art as a gift before? It's a great option when the malls all have the same-old same-old. You can give someone a comfy landscape (a marsh scene for cousins who moved away from the area) or a recipient-specific still life (a painting of a wrapped peppermint candy for your sweetie.) It's the perfect alternative to buying your mother-in-law a toaster.

You'll find excellent quality, selection, and (it's important to say it) prices at our Small Works Show. Opening reception Friday, November 14th from 5-7pm and Saturday, November 15th from 11-3. Work will be on display in the gallery through the remainder of the year.

This cedar tree pastel is a preview of some of the pieces I've been working on. Having spoken to a few our our in-house artists, I know they are busy creating so I know you'll have a great selection.

Be sure to stop in!

Life is a bowl...Opening night photos!

What a great event!
Everyone had an awesome time and the place was packed. We had a few sales and a whole lot of schmoozing, it was a success!
It started off with people drizzling in by two's and three's and then all of a sudden we were a packed house!

We are so proud of all the contributing artists. Most came with family and friends, and many stayed until the bitter end.
I am foreseeing many more of these 'open calls' in the future, it sure is fun to see what people come up with when you let them take an idea and roll with it!

Doesn't this just look inviting?

Don't forget that this special 38 artist show is still up for critique until the end of September. Please stop by and vote for your fan favorite before September 25th.

Nancy, Julie and Kim, the Gallery 9 team!

Forgive the blurry photo (I took it myself) and the wine teeth (we like red), we were just having fun. Come by and say hello!

In the gallery

If you haven't come into the gallery lately, it is time for a trip. We have exciting work to show you from some fabulous artists, in addition to an expanded line of ready-made frames.

Here is a selection of some of our offerings to whet your appetite--

Andrew Osborne's wood turnings, Kim Weineck's mini paintings, and Lisa W B Walker's hand-thrown pottery. Wonderful.

Nancyrosetta's wonderful jewelry with the ready made frames

And a new artist in gallery 9, Nick Murray
(See the teensy red dot on this one?)
Framed minimally for display and priced perfectly so you can choose the right frame for your decor.

Or not framed but instead displayed industrially with clips on their heavy paper. Quite nice.

And close ups of the framed pieces:

Another artist in house is Ann Gorbett, you'll see her in the video in the upper right corner of this blog. She's working on unique series right now inspired by family snapshots. These are accompanied by letters instead of titles.

These, too, are unframed and priced perfectly for you to be able to frame as you like for your decor.

Here is a close up
And its accompanying letter that is its title, perfect to put on the back of the framed piece.
And another of her works with its title
And finally What fun these are. Her palette knife technique make these works unique, interesting, and appealing to a wide audience. Wait until you see them!

And for our abstract fans, Jenn O'Neil (a show coming up August 1st, mind you!!!) has these bright and exciting pieces for you:

Yes, that's my head and the flash.

And affordable small pastels by me, Kim Weineck. (Hope you don't mind the shameless plug.) Thanks for looking. We hope to see you soon!

Happiness on a tiny canvas.

These little oil paintings make me so happy. I love when something can perk up your day just by looking at it, these little landscapes do that to me.

North Attleboro artist, Kim Morin Weineck creates these minuscule landscapes with oils on tiny stretched canvases. They are sold with little aisles to stand them on, and are very affordable for an original oil painting. These little works of art are only $40.

Her paintings are all about comfort, and it shows.

If you find these as sweet and comfortable as I do, please check out her website for more of her art at BretonBleu.com

I am the proud owner of this little masterpiece.

I placed it in my own studio on my workbench for inspiration anytime I need it.

If you are in the Norwood area, please stop by Custom Art Framing and Gallery 9 to view more masterpieces by many talented artists, along with Kim's full size works. They are truly a sight to behold.

Gallery artists in house

We thought it might be nice to showcase some of the artists presently in the gallery. Clicking the photo will make it larger on your screen.

Note: Of course we have to say that the resolution shown here does not do the art justice. If you find a piece you're interested in, please call 781-762-3300 or email us at julie@customartframing.com as it would be a pleasure to send along a photo with higher resolution.

Judy Hazilla- enhanced photographs

Kim Morin Weineck - original pastels

Kathy Weller - original watercolor illustrations

Don Weller - giclee iris prints

B.D. Packert - black and white photography

Alexandra Hayes - abstracted floral photography
